Introducing Cancellation with Fouls
Cancellation is a term, which refers to violations committed by both teams' members (players, benches, coaches) that result in canceling the following free throws and possession, based on equal penalties, without the need for the user to select each foul individually and then assign 0 FTs for the involved parties in the case where the coach or/and bench, as well players on the court are involved.
Examples: Player Technical Foul vs. Coach/Bench Technical Foul; Foul on the Shot vs. Coach/Bench Technical Foul; Player Disqualifying Foul vs. Coach Disqualifying Foul
Cancelation is linked to FIBA RulesArticle 42 Special Situations
42.2.3 All equal penalties on the teams and all double foul penalties shall be canceled in the order in which they were committed. Once all foul penalties have been entered on the scoresheet and canceled they are considered as never having occurred.
Cancellation strictly excludes the double foul scenarios for players on the court, where the violations/fouls include physical contact.
The exhaustive list of cancellation scenarios includes:
- Player TF v Player TF
- Player Throw In Foul v Player TF
- Foul on the shot (AND 1) v Player TF*
- Player TF v Coach/Bench TF
- Player Throw In Foul v Coach/Bench TF
- Foul on the shot (AND 1) v Coach Bench TF*
- Coach TF v Coach TF
- Coach TF v Bench TF
- Player UF v Coach DF
- Player DF v Coach DF
- Coach DF v Coach DF
The idea behind the cancellation workflow is to facilitate the work of the statistician's crews and to save them from going through all the steps of the standard input for fouls, where in the case of violations with equal penalties they should select 0 free throws for both participants.
Synergy Stats recognizes the scenarios and will ask either for foul type for each one of the involved parties or will automatically apply the rules of cancellation - for example, if a DF is called on a player, and then the opponents' head coach is disqualified, cancellation workflow will predictively know that one the DF for the player on the court is recorded, the only possibility will be Coach DF in order to apply the special situation.
The scenarios marked with * will be available in the nextSynergyStatsversions within the 'FOUL' workflow from the 'Free Throws' screen (multiple fouls situation).
Updated Double Foul Functionality
Synergy Stats now accommodates double foul functionality with all the possible scenarios and the users can select among personal, unsportsmanlike, or disqualifying fouls to reflect the official game rules.
Article 35 Double foul (FIBA Rules)
35.1 Definition
35.1.1 A double foul is a situation in which 2 opponents commit personal or unsportsmanlike/disqualifying fouls on each other at approximately the same time.
35.1.2 To consider 2 fouls as a double foul the following conditions must apply:
• Both fouls are player fouls.
• Both fouls involve physical contact.
• Both fouls are between the same 2 opponents fouling each other.
• Both fouls are either2 personal or any combination of unsportsmanlike and
disqualifying fouls.
Synergy Stats reports display Mandarin fonts and users who need the boxscore in the language can now use it.

Throw In Foul
FIBA rules changes for 2022 (01.10.2022) introduce a new personal foul variation - Throw In Foul.
- it is a regular personal foul for the player
- it is marked as P1 on the scoresheet
- it is followed by1 FT ONLY
- it is called in the last 2 mins of the game or any overtime during an inbound pass and replaces the former unsportsmanlike foul
- ball possession stays with the team who has control of the ball before the foul is called
- no jumpers at the restricted area/key/paint during the FT are executed
- a personal foul is added to the player's foul count and a foul is added to the team's fouls
Synergy Stats introduces Throw In a workflow where the user should:
- Select court location (close to where the foul occurred)
- Click on the 'FOUL' button
- Select player committing the foul
- Select player to shoot 1 FT from the 'FREE THROWS' screen
- Mark the outcome of the FT
Art. 34.1.2 (FIBA Rules)
A throw-in foul is a personal foul committed, when the game clock shows 2:00 minutes or less in the fourth quarter and in each overtime, by a defensive player on an opponent on the court when the ball is out-of-bounds for a throw-in and still in the hands of the referee or at the disposal of the player taking the throw-in.

An enhancement for Synergy Stats to recognize and treat a player's ejection due to DF
Synergy Stats now accommodates a disqualified tag for players who receive direct disqualifying fouls.
Once a player is ejected for disqualification, a tag DISQUALIFIED will be added above his player's tile in the roster field (game screen), as well as the substitution screen.
The Player's foul count dots will be colored in red and the tile will be framed.
The implementation of this functionality targets to assist the users in subbing disqualified players back in, and prevents mistakes by them or the official tables.
A major bug where users are not able to proceed to the Game Screen after setting up team rosters and staff is fixed.
The issue was happening when a team is modified or updated in the CMS fixture after the game is opened inSynergyStatsand set, before reaching the Game Screen by the user.
